Thursday Things Lite

Oh what a rubbish blogger I am! I’ve done almost no preperation/research for this week’s Thursday Things as I’ve been back at my day job desk trying to play catch up. Luckily I woke up early and had a mad scout around the internet to find you a couple of cool things to look at. Normal service will resume next week.

Happy Thursday…

A Road Sign Thing
Found via notcot.org

Bluprint magazine asked a load of designers, artists and architects to redesign the humble British roadsign. The results are interesting. My favourites are by Modern Toss.

A Knitty City Thing

Knit the City are a group of grafitti knitters and they’re just about to release their first book, written by the formidable Deadly Knitshade.

In their own words “Knit the City are a band of sneaky stitching graffiti knitters. We have an ongoing mission to guerilla knit the city of London, and beyond that the world, and bring the art of the sneaky stitch to a world without wool. No part of the city is safe from Knit the City’s woolly war on the mundane, humdrum and expected.”

Buy the book. Deadly Knitshade is one of the hardest working creative people I know and in her other life she teaches people to knit for free, does wonderful things to raise money for cancer charities and generally spends every waking moment doing amazing things with wool.

In fact another knitty book you might like to buy is Stitch London. Any link between these two books and Lauren O’Farrell and Deadly Knitshade is (probably) purely coincidental. Honest.

I’ll be at the book launch for this one in October with my camera so keep an eye on this very blog.

A Plate Thing

I am obsessed with People Will Always Need Plates. I own a couple of the Trellick Tower ones and two cups that someone bought be as a gift and I dream of owning more but they are a bit on the spenny side. Beautiful though.

That’s all folks…
