Becoming a Photographer – Resources
I have short and sweet post for you this week, after another hellishly busy week. Before I go on I’d just like to say thanks for all of the lovely feedback about these posts. It’s brilliant to hear that people find them helpful/interesting.
I thought it would be useful to share some of the places that provide information for photographers. This week I’ll be focussing on technical resources but I’ll think about other types of resources for a future post.
I guess this is more of a discussion topic really, as I’d love to hear your recommendations for places on line that provide useful information. Leave me a comment below if you have any suggestions.
Here are a few of my favourites.
Digital Photography School – I found this resource when I was first starting out and I’m still on their mailing list now. There’s a whole range of information on different topics and their posts are usually punchy and to the point. There are tutorials, image competitions and an active on line community. The site also caters for people at a range of different levels.
PHLEARN provides lively video tutorials on a whole range of different subjects but with a strong focus on image post production in photoshop.
Photo Night Live Photo Night Live is a UK based weekly web TV show that invites guests from the photography community to discuss a chosen hot topic.
Creative Live has free online workshops in photography, video, web and graphic design, app development and a whole load of other stuff. All of their live creative workshops are available to watch for free in realtime. Once a live workshop is over you can then buy it in their online store.
Facebook – I’m a member of several Facebook groups that are really helpful places to ask questions and get feedback from other photographers. Here are a few that I regularly visit:
I’d love to hear about on line resources that you use. Leave a comment below with details so that I can check them out.
